No, they screwed up and clearly don't understand the psychology of the market.
A lot of people buy into uptrends because they think everyone else knows something they don't. Normal psychology. Then when the ASX throws up a price query, obviously no company is going to say yes there is information out there that shouldn't be unless they've made a massive blunder.
So when the company says no we have no idea why the price is going up, a lot of those investors will panic and sell out. They should at least say "no we have no leaked information, but here's why we think we're a good investment". I had a company recently responded with about 3 or 4 paragraphs on the macro economics and how favourable they were to them. Much better response than this.
I'm concerned that this means they might have bad news which hasn't leaked so they don't want to promote themselves and then turn around with bad news...
