as an engineer I know definately that a plant running is a plant that would be less prone to problems. the longer u leave the plant idle the more problems especially to the moving parts better get em parts moving than a more heftier repair bill 6 months down the line mate.
try leaving the car for 6 months and then start it up." and u will see what I mean.
