Relevance goes to the ‘American Giants’ increasing reliance on CEA Leti for supply of ‘new generation chips’
supplied in operational cutting edge chiplet architectures to hold / sustain market position,
without losing further ground to TSMC ( mass producing 5nm nodes for them) – Samsung (producing 3nm nodes for them) and the particular lifestyle company that has been openly referred to by Gelsinger, etc etc and potentially to reverse the trend of diminishing market share they are experiencing as ever smaller nodes fail to deliver increasing returns.... and they have none of their own!
Wholly unsatisfactory reputational position for them to sustain - hence the public calls for an engineer to run the show rather than the Bob from advertising.

significantly geometries that they have ignored essentially for the last 5 or so years...as the talent walked and the product continued to be come increasingly inferior.
2020 witnessed Intels' drive to increase yield and capacity on their current product lines fail and resulted in the elimination of some of their major categories which in turn saw a 4% decrease for the year in their R&D expenditure --- this follows those declines witnessed in 2019 - et al 2 consecutive years of diminishing product categories and the R&D outlays......not since 08/09 has this occurred.
(hence the talent drain and unsatisfactory product development - or lack of -that needed to be reversed)

My very insignificant opinion would suggest these facts are extremely noteworthy - when the 'American Giant' increases external reliance for supply on, in an existing relationship with CEA Leti, an increasing supply of new generation multiprocessor chips designed for chiplet architectures - this is after all Intel.

It will, imo be very interesting to see where this increasing reliance on CEA Leti ends up.

make of it what you will - I see significant relevance in this situation / relationship with our publicly stated development partner whether its in relation to supercomputer applications / or otherwise.....I certainly don't view it as situation normal.

just sayin - this is my own read on the situation
