The relatively high expense of adding a lithium battery to a solar panel installation
has been the topic of much discussion here and elsewhere. If it was possible to come
up with a cheaper/more practical alternative to Lithium for batteries, this would most likely
cause an further upswing in interest in installing domestic solar power panels
(and therefore interest in VRX's high purity sands to make the glass).
A bit of research into alternative batteries has led me to the Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB)
which was first developed at the UNSW (Sydney), and which is now being touted to
replace Lithium batteries for large "solar farm" installations (they scale better than Li for use
in industrial sized energy storage). Critically, VRFB's are now also being touted for domestic use.
I believe the fortunes of the raw material suppliers for solar panels and Vanadium batteries
may be increasingly linked, so I have invested in VRX and TMT as the best prospects in this space.
I'd be interested if anyone has any further ideas on other key synergies relating to solar panels (and VRX).
