Im dont know anything about you or your history apart from posts on HC recently but i can say that what you have said does ring true to me as i have also had similar comments from Peter, his humour, and his way of speaking.
And to put it equally as simply, he has also said it will all be over soon to me, but over a few differnet conversations he has wisely (and reasonably) added that anything can happen in this world and that deadlines arent the priority, that the IRR being right for shareholders to get some more value is the priority. It was obvious to me that he was generalising regarding the overall risky market conditions in the world and that gas acquisitions were relatively constant from what he said. He said something wil be announced "pretty soon, not too far away".
