You just cannot get a wok hot enough on an electric stove, and gas cooktops are the best thigns to cook on.
I dont even use a wok that frequently, but we renovated our kitchen recently and despite the induction cooktops looking nicer, we shopped around and spent more money on a gas cooktop.
Why have an electric hot water system, when you can run it on gas? Power goes out, you can still enjoy hot running water, and that includes washing your hands and a nice shower, even if it is by candlelight.
Oil is used in ALL plastics manufacturing, and we use plastics in almost everything, and I am yet to see moving parts not require some sort of lubrication resulting in the use of oil.
The renewables push is enormous, but like any industry I cant see it displacing the oil market completely without a lot of evolution. The irony is, that the fossil fuels will be used to manufacture the renewables.
