"You target your ownership of being in the top 6 of the major resources in the world (about a dozen of them) from Zinc to Lithium to aluminium and gold, and you build processing and industry here."
even if I agreed that it was a good idea (which I don't because I don't think dirty industries are a good idea) ---
the big question (which I've covered a million times before) - is 'how'??
you say
"and you build processing and industry here."
I say -------------- 'who is this 'you'???????????
we do NOT own the resource companies - they are almost all foreign owned - so, WE are NOT digging up the dirt - someone else is.
So - who is this 'we' who is going to build processing and industry here???
the Australian government?????? the State governments??
Private enterprise??? --- if so - why haven't they done it already?
the Resource companies? - if so - why haven't they done it already?
do we really want our governments to be building business and doing business??
isn't that what we've been getting out of for decades? --- privatising?
who and how and who's going to pay for this 'processing and industry'???
I tell you what - if the aluminium industry is anything to go by ---------- then, no thank you --------- pass ------- let some other bugger have it
