I am an RN and do these negative pressure wound dressings every week. I've done up to three in one day. They work brilliantly, especially in foot surgery like amputations from diabetes. Any cavity wound can take months to heal but you usually see results in 3 weeks with NPWT , not total healing but sometimes enough to remove the pressure dressing and use conventional dressings. Removing biofilm is what we aim for to heal wounds. You can do this by swabbing the wound with saline before applying the dressing and also using primary products on the wound then covered. NPWT just works on the foam being packed into the cavity. I'm sure another product to destroy the biofilm would make the process quicker. I havnt heard of any use of this product being in use as yet.
However , I bought shares in this a while ago knowing what I know , diabetes is on the rise and so are amputations sadly. There are always wound infections and breakdowns after surgery also. I'm hoping this will take off at sometime. There seems to be an increase of the use of NPWT.
