the only reason it took longer for the "yanks" is because they were not indiscriminate with who they targeted for attack, plus the mobilising of a force of 250,000 a long way out of their normal postcode was a little difficult. If you look in your atlas you will notice that France is a lot closer to Germany than Iraq is to the USA.
