Sponsors are a lot better at "reading the room" than Ed. They pay staff and focus groups a pile of cash to be across majority opinion and social norms. Something somebody needed to help Ed with. Use of the word "proud" will be the worst reading of the room this year is my guess.
Windscreens O'Brien triggered the review but an open letter from all players and staff at the club sealed Ed's fate. The sponsors were noticeably quiet but no doubt feeling and passing the pressure on. As a Collingwood man I'll miss having a president who lives and breathes Collingwood but he had to go after that shocker of a response. He new the shite he was in when he announced retirement 1 day before the report leaked then dug his own grave by over estimating his abilities to spin it in the media.
