The big advantage ,it seems to me ,of the Talga coating is it’s anti fouling properties ( hinders marine growth).
Marine growth acts as drag on a vessel and so more increasing more fuel is used as over the years as more growth builds up, and up.( I’ve done big vessels years ago- not fun!)
Ships are drydocked for this anti fouling process and this is not only expensive and needs to be booked in advance ,but most importantly it’s dead time for the shipping company.
So just like airlines under routine inspections ,it costs them money in lots ways. If they can minimise it shipping companies will certainly go for ii.
