Bottleneck is still likely to be in the chem processing stage between us and the battery makers. I was hoping a JV with POSCO was on the cards, but I am starting to have doubts about that going ahead. Not sure what great advantage a JV would be for POSCO given the returns possible from them going it alone.
We have known about the lack of chem processing capability globally and the time frame to ramp up new capability . I can’t understand the delay given the relatively ‘long’ construction time required.
This fledgling quantum shift in the energy and transport sector could well have the brakes put on if the industry doesn’t get all its ducks lined up in a row.
