I'm not up to speed on reciprocal arrangements between the US and Au but I do know that the US is not under the same foreign investment restrictions as China.

Perhaps we need to look at the Foreign Investment Review site to get a better understanding. Then again, I'm sure someone on this forum could enlighten us.
