Thats the problem with transportation technology its so complicated. You need:
Abundancy
Cost efficiency
Easy to produce for use
Environmentally friendly
Safe
Then you have other complications associated with whatever Tech you plan on using like vehicle drive range, vehicle size, weather, storage and other factors like aircon use and possible recharge/down times and its impact on the rolled out technology.
Electrical vehicle off memory have been around since the 70s but technology wasnt advanced enough to roll it our properly and impliment it until now.
