Many of those that voted for Trump did so because they are dye-in-the wool Republican voters. It would not matter who the candidate was. The Trump base in itself would never be enough to win any election. In fact the move against Trump had already started culminating in States being flipped to Democrat and more noticeably even two solid Red States flipped blue and voted for Biden. Another phenomenon in the vote is that the Republican vote for House and Senate members was stronger than it was for Trump, that is they voted for their local Republican member but for Joe Biden for President
Another example of Trumps fortunes further decline is the fact that voters were so disgusted with Trump they voted for two Democrat Senators in the special election in Georgia instead of the Trump supported candidates giving Democrats control of the Senate. Since Jan6 the Trump vote will have dropped by 20% and as time goes by he will vanish into history as the worst and most disgraceful President of the USA. His name will become a dirty word.
