There is no getting away from the fact that the rally of recent has been on low volume as discussed here for eg - I found the charts of particular interest:

Also noting your comments re equity for small to med caps on the ASX - there was an article in the AFR on Monday regarding the changing of rules to address what you were talking about the title was "ASX moves to relax raising rules".
