If my line of work was climate science I wouldn’t like my chances of getting a job if I came out with a theory that ran against the preferred line.
What organisations are going to fund a person who suggests that the modelling designs that have poured money into their sector are wrong?
Take the attitude of our friend Mr Curve, any person who doubts is labeled fruitcake. Do you think it would be any different in the circles of scientists?
Even my claim that MMCO2 hasn’t been proven (as a non scientific person) has the other non scientific people around me suggesting that I must be stoopid. Any Mavericks who suggest to those in the industry that their premise is less than perfect would get treated the same way.
A bit like financial institutions during the last GFC, this industry is thought of being to big to fail. That doesn’t mean it is correct in its assumptions though
