    bOOf,
It is my firm belief that the buying has resulted from leaks about DBCT. You are correct. If this massive buying was "orchestrated" to firm up the price to limit dilution, who is putting their huge $$$ on the line?
If BBI wanted an instos "help", which insto would be prepared to do this massive buying just to help out ordinary BBI holders from being diluted? No insto would do this. They are flat out buying for themselves let alone for existing BBI holders.
Macquarie notoriously leak like a sieve on deals. You only have to speak to brokers, fund managers to know this. They obviously know what the three entities are prepared to pay for 49% of DBCT. If they know, it is a very, very hard task to keep that info behind Chinese walls. Nearly impossible.
Big thanks to jonkey1995 for his extremely valuable research and yes, dargie has provided the sobering downside possibilities (death spirals aside) that keep the BBI/BEPPA bulls in the pen.
The story is only just unfolding. It's all very well to talk about what might happen when DBCT gets sold but I want to see it announced and then closed out without any haircuts. Then the proceeds can go to corporate debt bankers and NZ bond holders via the buyback. That will signal the start of the recovery. At the moment it is all speculation, however, it's interesting to watch. My stock is absolutely firmly in the drawer.
