incidentally about tailings, the slurry from a Knelson or other separator is basically non-toxic sand mixed with non-toxic water, which can be allowed to pile up so the non-toxic water drains out of it, or the slurry could be simply "poured" over the edge of the ROM pad. If the site at Woods Point is not sufficiently large to accept a million tonnes then the surplus could be returned to the mine to fill up old stopes and stabilised with cement or trucked away and dumped in an old shaft such as Dempseys

There are numerous other cheap and simple solutions for disposal of non-toxic tailings - sell it as sand for example.
