If Facebook doesn't want to pay for the intellectual property of commercial news enterprises in Australia, that's fine. But they can't be allowed to steal it. That's just not part of civilised society.
If, as an act of spite, they want to deprive their "customers" of public service & emergency announcements, nobody can force them to reverse that. Their "customers" will just have to find the information in other places. I'm sure many of us have always done that anyway.
In the meantime, we can all benefit from this lesson on how monopoly capitalism works, especially when it is controlled by a bunch of left wing nutjobs.
But it's very easy for everybody to stick a finger up at them . . . .just don't use it. You won't die, it's not essential for life.
