Great document clearly the US has accepted what it needs to do which is accelerate its adoption of Ai by its military. The following paragraph is telling:
"China is organized, resourced, and determined to win the technology competition.
AI is central to China’s global expansion and domestic stability. It has a head start on executing a national AI plan as
part of larger plans encompassing several critical technology fields. Beginning in 2017, China
established AI goals, objectives, and strategies tied to specific timelines with resources backed by
committed leadership to lead the world in AI by 2030.16 China is executing a centrally-directed
systematic plan to extract AI knowledge from abroad through espionage, talent recruitment,
technology transfer, and investments. It has ambitious plans to build and train a new generation of AI
engineers in new AI hubs. It supports “national champion” firms (including Huawei, Baidu, Alibaba,
Tencent, iFlytek, and SenseTime) to lead development of AI technologies at home, advance state directed priorities that feed military and security programs, and capture markets abroad.17 It funds massive digital infrastructure projects across several continents. China developed an intellectual
property (IP) strategy and is trying to set global technical standards for AI development.18 And its
laws make it all but impossible for a company in China to shield its data from the authorities."
Contrasted to this was a BBC report on the boarder skirmish between Chinese and Indian army troops where 20 Indian serviceman died recently. It was reported by the BBC that they fought each other with stones and clubs not a sophisticated Ai powered weapon on either side.
I do not discount China but it has a huge economic divide across its population and its arrest of Jack Ma an its laws making everyone's new idea property of the state will if the USA carries through on its intentions to catch up a real problem for innovation if the rest of the world continues to be suspicious and lock them out.
My opinion only but Brainchip is still in the right place at the right time no matter how your look at it. As they say opportunity only knocks once. and it seems that Brainchip was home and opened the door to NASA.
