Yep. One scientist could be wrong. Or a few. Particularly early on.
But when the global scientific community agrees that they're most likely correct, including scientists who work for the fossil fuel producers themselves, I think it's wise to go with the consensus. Scientists that advise governments from everything to Covid response to space flight.
Now you're comparing scientists to used car dealers ? I'm sure Australia's chief scientist might take offence to that. Especially from an anonymous person on the internet who has no scientific qualifications or experience to speak of.

Sniping ? I doubt it. I'm more than up for the debate. When I dispute some fake news I find it is the poster of said fake news that goes missing for a few days. Or, in extreme cases they use the ignore function to pretend I'm not there. That is hardly running away.
Case in point. The multiple threads this week about the Texas snow storm. Several cut and pastes of fake news. No commentary. Just a c and p hit and run. When challenged, the posters disappear. Classic gutless troll stuff.
The deniers love to use all the shock jock rhetoric. Arguably, that's all they have. Calling people that believe that mmcc is most likely real " religious zealots, latte sipping greenies, woke idiots " etc and many more colorful expressions they have to cut and paste from their favorite denier blog.
I work on the simple principle of treating people as they treat you. If they choose to insult people then it's game on. If they choose to continually post lies, spin and fake news then it's game on.
Posting fake news isn't debating.
