Coal may be "the most resilient" to environmental changes.... largely because the entire process involves burning huge amounts of fossil fuels inside a massive shed. But it also highly polluting and damaging to the environment and people (coal dust, especially the 2.5 micron dust particles) are severely damaging to the lungs and identified as a serious carcinogen with a potency similar to tobacco smoke.

Yet even the coal fired generators failed in this weather system. Why is this? Why didn't the State Govt have everything prepared fro whatever weather came? Yes its said to be a one in 100yr system.... but South Australia wasn't forgiven for their grid failing in a one in 100 year weather system?

And that's why we need a mix of renewables together with sustainable resilient thermal stations.
Not a total wipe out of dependable generation.
