This is just not true.

Those poor sods who purchased shares in AMP would have lost more money the longer they held them. It is always possible for the shares to lose more value.

Also, you have to look at the opportunity cost of holding stock in a company for years as apposed to cutting and running and investing in another company where the sp rises. That’s also a loss.

So, holding shares which are worth less than the purchase price and then saying I will never lose money unless I sell them is absolutely not always true.
