When I first started investing I had the same view as you - TA is a nonsense. However, after losing a lot of money in the early days I grew to appreciate the massive value in what the chartists do. I "get it" but don't understand it if that makes sense. And now I always factor in what the best chartists say for entry points into stocks. It has helped me make a lot of money.
That being said my approach is to try and pick stocks before they get popular and then sit and hold. So to an extent I agree with your sentiment here.
News will obviously put a rocket under RLT but whilst we are waiting for it I wouldn't be surprised to see @wobblyboots predictions play out.
