I rang the information line and got a few items.

The 100m exclusion zone still applies, so the ferocity has not decreased.

Which is good if you want to generate, but bad if you are trying to jam chewing gum in the hole.

"The equipment is on its way." According to the info line, it is being sourced locally, which would tend to suggest a down the hole attempt to close off, rather than a bypass and fill, so it seems they are hanging on to the top of the hole.

Have to say I was a little worried at the prospect of a cellar full of concrete and consequent need to rebuild the top hamper.

Info line felt the next update would be around "equipment arrived, starting work" but that was a surmise on their part.
