Keeping the word subject in mind, nothing was made without, the same, this, it = word of God, spoken and Jesus is NOT the one saying, and God said.
If you say Jesus is the Word, you have no option but to say, imply, and Jesus said, and Jesus said, John 1:3 forces this.
The Word includes, thought, reason etc as in, a Jesus to be in which God's salvation plan would come through, Hence the Name Jesus.
In the Word, meaning of, after the plan for a Jesus, was the Gens creation.
To boot, the word as in many of the words of God = word of Life,

The only begotten here is NOT referencing Jesus, BUT the Glory (the word) of God which he gave Jesus who then gave to them.
Your own version of 1:14, says exactly the same.
In other words, it could only have been, begotten off, from God.

So, the word not only produced the Flesh, resulted in it, the Word (of life) also came in the flesh, the Temple, Tabernacle.
Ex 40:34 - Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle.

For the Word (God) to come into the Tabernacle, the Word had to produce one first.
Yes the meaning of the Word, centers around Jesus, but it also represents the plan of God, re creation and the word of God, word of life, which Jesus became the carrier of and now exalted carries that name, "the Word of God" as he did the name Jesus.
The name is to show and represent, that role.
Jesus had it in him, without measure.
Fullness of God -> the Word, dwelt in him. (......and God was the Word).
Hence, he then became the Express image, when he spoke, expressed out the word.
