I often wonder why they don't spend the money on building gas fired power stations and closing the coal fired plants while delaying the development of carbon capture. Its something we can do now rather than waiting a decade.

Though the answer could be that we are funding carbon capture technology for the countries importing our coal rather than for ourselves.
