a few engineers here, good to see. I have heard people say there are hundreds of units of coal fired plant under construction in China. A unit in a large grid is typically 500-1000MW theses days.

i have personally seen contemporary construction of such units in Malaysia, Indonesia and China., but am not omniscient so cannot say what the extent is.

i have observed hundreds of combined and open cycle gas turbine plants built in UK, US, Australia, Malaysia, Brunei, New Zealand and seen the world-wide statistics in internal reports at GE, where I worked for some years. GE took the position of being agnostic, able to supply whatever technology the market requested.

The uncertainty of the political future of coal fired plants is the biggest cloud on the horizon.

Engineering schools are now teaching climate dogma, and the level of derision surfaced on campus or in most media, when coal is even mentioned, is farcical.

If people actually respected the right of elected representatives Craig Kelly and Matt Canavan to speak, we would be better off. People are only free to express their opinion in secret ballot elections, which shows great support for coal as evidenced by 2019.

But that voice is drowned out by media and vested interests like the Turnbull family, who see a business opportunity, like GE does, in riding the current renewables wave.
