That's a fair enough conclusion. The fact that Jesus didn't mention that when Thomas called Jesus God rather spoils your connection somewhat, and leads some to believe that the connection is not there. In the Chapter 20 narrative, Jesus did not refer to the conversion in Chapter 14 which may have helped clarify the issue.Your seem to have missed the Key point as to what Thomas was doubting, and that was, Jesus, yes the same Jesus was actually alive.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessedarethey that have not seen, andyet have believed.
Just a plain and simple, or logical comment via Jesus, which also effectively, dress's down Thomas.
So naturally, one would think, Thomas now gets and believes everything Jesus has said, re John 14:10, God dwelling in him.
Thomas simply acknowledging two individuals.
We simply cannot just take this verse in isolation.
The John 14:10, is simply saying, Jesus when he speaks, is expressing out the Father (..and God WAS the Word).
Hence after Jesus baptism, He has the Spirit without measure (God), for the purpose of speaking the words of life.
That is when he became the express image.
Prior, like the 1st Adam, image of God.
As much as I keep harping on about it, it is so, so important, this John 1:1 area, otherwise the mess come confusion, just flows.
I could very well give another plausible interpretation and Backed via the Bible for this and that also shows and based on Jesus's words again, Thomas would not be referring to the Almighty God and Father.
But the one I have shown, is like water flowing off a ducks back.
------------
He had just called Jesus my God.This suggests, implies, your seeing what you want to see, by the clear fact, you leave out Lord here, which Thomas addressed Jesus as in John 14:5.
-----------
It is pretty obvious that Thomas recognised Jesus as God which was confirmed by Jesus.Nothing of a sort, what was confirmed by Jesus was, Thomas acknowledging Jesus was alive.
Jesus wouldn't have given a second thought on the mentioning of God, as he certainly wouldn't have forgotten what he told Thomas prior.
-----------
Nature of Jesus close to God;
Well, ......and God was the Word,................Jesus had, Spirit/Word/Light of God, God's without measure, naturally he would appear in the form of God, which the Bible tells us.
But the how and whys, are very clear in the Bible.
Due 18:18 for one.

Not being critical, but you have just demonstrated in a range of ways, how easy it is to get wrong ideas in our mind, hence they start doing the interpretation for us.
Your not alone and I personally, try and keep on guard all the time, to try and avoid that.
Hence, all my posts, ref a one of a kind which means, you have to go relooking each time, reducing to a degree of this happening.
sometimes, causing you to come from another direction, angle, so to speak.
