Pfizer is the biggest antibiotic manufacturer in the world. I think it has no other option than buying PBT2.
Last summer when the antimicrobial-resistant fund, AMR Action Fund was founded, Pfizer Pledges $100 Million Into AMR Action Fund To Help Fund Antibiotic Development and Fight Global Threat (July 9, 2020).
Now it has a possibility to buy PBT2 for the same purpose and make a lot of money with PBT2 when treating these resistant infections. The total antibiotic market it under 50B but with PBT2 it will increase a lot because of the better results with PBT2.
I do not think Pfizer wants to lose this possibility.
