Porter could be as innocent as Pell . Nevertheless, two things strike me about this unfortunate affair. First, the alleged victim began to documented/diarized the incident in the 90s, which was not all that long after the said event. That in and of itself adds to the veracity of the alleged crime. Second, the more I watched the Porter interview (about 10 times) the more I got the sense his dirty little secret had been discovered, and he was more upset that his privileged world had now come crashing to the ground than the horror of being exposed, which he knew could not be proved, given the alleged victim was dead. A sense only, and of course I could be wrong. But, this guy doesn't have a history of empathy in politics, and does have a history of inappropriate womanizing (he had been cautioned by the previous PM).
And for what its worth, I think Bill is possibly just as guilty and should not be accorded the privilege of being politician. The fact of the matter is that far too many people get away with rape due to the complexities of the circumstances and the law.
