I believe some of the cash from the CR would be going to Sky Candy as now they're entering a JV with a company that has worked extensively in the AAA space. They said "the joint venture will mark iCandy’s first step into developing 3D games with AAA visuals and animation".

3D games generally require more assets and have more steps in their pipeline. That's not to say 2D games can't require a lot of work, just that 3D games usually require more capital. For example a 3D character might start with concept art, then the model is made, then the model is rigged (like adding a skeleton to the model), then you have the textures and finally you need someone to animate it. On smaller teams these tasks could be shared between members though it often requires more work than 2D sprites. So I think the capital would be quite handy here. Fortunately 3D games on mobile are going to be simpler in scope and complexity than say a AAA PS5 game.

According to an earlier announcement they said they "expect the Sky Candy studio team to be functioning by end February 2021". So in theory it could already be functioning though you'd think there would probably be an update on this if this was the case. I'm genuinely curious to get a further update on where they're at, particularly being someone who has played many of the PlayStation games Lemon Sky Studios has worked on.
