Simple matter of Merchant slowly releasing their stock to the market to keep their portfolio allocation targets IMO. If they held their shares from I don’t know 20c to $4 that would blow up their allocations. This if you like could be the curse of the instos. While they can hold long term if price doesn’t move, they may need to cut if the SP goes gangbusters! If the SP tanks rarely would they buy more but close off the position with some blurb.
We retailers can hold on as long and add to our positions as much as we want. We don’t have to justify to anyone.
