Its one of those things, steeped in history. Used to be a govt airline and all that. Synonymous with Australia etc. A lot of govt ministers fly qantas and of course one of the worlds oldest and safest airlines just wouldn't be allowed to disappear. Look at all the jobs that would go? Thats bad for pollies.
