re: austalia in war on terror - atomu dumbo, I saw the program. A friend of mine copied it. I'm not sure what you want me to say about it. That interviewing an Orthodox priest would show you what the common greek thinks of muslims? That building a mosque near the airport is the right symbol for a visitor? In fact it makes no difference whatsoever to me what I see the moment I get out of an airplane; it's what I see, hear, smell, taste, touch once I'm walking through the streets that shows me a country's character. And even so, I'd have to stay there for quite a while and walk all over that land before I'd make any judgement at all.
I'm very reluctant to make general judgements on people: good and bad abound in every corner of the planet.
How would this film about Muslims in Greece be any different than that about Muslims in Australia if the same dlckhead producers made it?
The doco did not make me change my mind about either, the greeks or the muslims, in a generic way.
The doco made no references to the Greek/Ottoman history -400 years under the Ottomans (or any imperialist Govn't for that matter) tend to make a nation a little weary of that empire. No mention was made of that.
Prior to the 400 years (1453-1821/1922) The Christians did an enormous amount of damage to the local Near East peoples: Persia, Syria, Assyria, Iran, Iraq, Turkey; so they got angry and, with the help of the Jews (!) they upped and attacked.

Prior to THAT, the Near East saw the ill works of Alexander's imperialistic efforts and the efforts of the Roman empire which followed him.

Prior to that, the most civilized nation of ALL TIME, (5th C. Athens) was attacked twice by the Persians (Near East)

    And on the history goes.
    What did the doco show?
Thracians who are in Greece but call themselves Turks?
I've no idea what a brainless amoeba like you could have made of this show but whatever it did, it would most definitely be wrong.

How much greek history do you know, dummy?
