If you can't make the stuff you have now go underground (odds are, no) then drilling VC7 to the bowels of the earth isn't going to give an economic return. The upper parts could fit into a pit, sure, but it's a tiny fraction of the mineralised surface. But there's a good chance of further finds.
Nickel within any one ore surface tends to have the same tenor. So VC7 will stay reasonably similar all the way down the plunge (+/- remobilisation effects). The upper layer, if it is a separate surface, may have a different tenor or Ni:CuGE ratio.
