@Adem great to hear you're making the trip to Hobart.

It is a small and humble capital city. If you're from one of the big smokes like Melbs or Sydney you will be surprised at the size of it. But, it is great. I've travelled all over the world and it remains my favourite place.

You'll want a hire car as public transport is not great in Hobart. We have buses, but no trams/trains etc.

Hard to give you specific recommendation without knowing your interests, but a few things that a lot of visitors do (and locals) are:

• Pop up to Mount Wellington, which is the mountain just out of Hobart that overlooks the city and surrounding peninsulas/suburbs/river/ocean. Gives you a great sense of the city and the landscape. There are also some great walks up there.

• Visit MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) and catch some live music every Friday through until Sunday 12-5pm. That's just the gig hours, you can visit the Museum most days. They produce their own beer and wine as well (DW8 are you listening?), and its pretty good, and also great meals and coffee out there. MONA is a big attraction for a lot of visitors and locals, and its not f*cked in an over-touristed sense. If you ever get a chance to visit during Winter, MONA's winter festival Dark MoFo is one of the best times you'll ever have.

• Spend some time at Salamanca (waterfront area; old sandstone colonial buildings; packed with bars/restaurants). Pop down there for a meal and a beer or two and enjoy the ambiance. Also just nearby here is Lark Distillery, which @steve10 and I have chatted about a bit. Great local spirits producer.

Probably enough to get you started. If you have more time than that, take your hire car up the east coast and visit the Freycinet Peninsula, or EagleHawk neck (which is closer).
