The problem in Australia is we have a major lack of “smart money” investing in the biotech sector. There is a lot of herd-following, even by the biggest investors. This makes Australian investors prone to either over- or undervaluing biotech companies. In a better informed market RAC should never have got down to a market cap of $3.1 million and someone like me should not have been able to buy at that price.

I have found investors are very passionate about the biotech sector (how much better is curing cancer than digging another hole in the ground), but many (most) lack an understanding of how the industry works. Part of the reason I post here on HC is to try and help educate people so they are able to better understand how the pharmaceutical industry works and become better investors. RAC is not the only listed biotech with real potential and if I am able to help people identify the real from the “no hopers" then I think the effort is worthwhile.
