Changi Airport is facilitating a breath analyser trial at Terminal 1. Samples collected from passengers who volunteer to take part will be compared against existing PCR tests, to determine the breath analyser’s effectiveness in detecting Covid-19 infections.

There are two methods of sample collection being trialed – the first involves breathing into an analyser directly through a disposable mouthpiece, while the second requires breathing into a disposable capsule with a HEPA filter, which is then put through the analyser. These innovative breathalyser tests can deliver results in two or fewer minutes, which if proven reliable, will help Changi better manage passenger flow as we get ready for the reopening of international borders.
