'thegun' - Why would China, India etc want to invest in West Africa?

We need to understand that Trade = Aid and if a project of this size is going to contribute 8%+ of GDP to Cameroon then China is going to have a strong ally. Also, with them investing in other projects on the continent they will have a lot more friends.
However, i'm still betting on Tata as I feel (and want them) they need a much bigger slice of the pie.:)
