Lithium Carbonate 99.5% resumes its march upwards.

It is now worth US$ 13,366 at today's exchange rate.

Only a matter of time before it cracks the 100,000 CNY ~= US$15,365



The only time previously the Lithium Carbonate 99.5% was at this level, was during the 2 year surge in Lithium prices. All indications is that this price increase is here to stay as the world swaps its energy sources. I'm not sure how high the lithium price will reach, but it will be higher than todays price in my opinion.

It is not good for the lithium price to surge higher as it will make the switch uneconomical and it will fuel the search for alternative battery chemistry. A price between US$16,000-18,000 can be sustained by the industry and can allow companies like AGY to have excellent margins.

The challenge for AGY is to execute their timetable without any delays and continue to expand their Rincon and US assets to become the size that would attract car and battery makers.
