The whole act cannot contradict the sum of its constituent parts. If a play has a god creating evil and strife, the whole act cannot deny that it has god god creating evil and strife. It can try to justify this by arguing that the ends justify the means, but in the case of an omnipotent/omniscient being, that would be an extremely hard thing to sell.
