Because these gene altering injections supress the effects, the mutations could increase their strength of infection to combat that resistance, becoming really deadly instead of fake deadly.

Then you have the possibility that your immune system is now compromised and offers little, if any, natural immunity to all the natural viral infections we encounter.

Of course any country that creates a biological weapon from a virus would also create the antidote, so you might have asked your CCP pals for that instead but of course if they don't need you it would have been the special 'vaccine' for the rest of the world.
