QE has been going on for years - the only difference is (a) the Europeans and the Americans are admitting to it and (b) it's getting bigger. Our RBA has been following the US Fed's lead for several years and in my opinion, has been acting in the interests of the US (dollar support, interest rates etc) rather than Australia. If you check out the current Gov's CV you will see that he spend several years "gaining experience" (or being trained) by the NY Fed. To him it is a plus - to me it is a minus.
