Telstra has always been a dividend focused stock and will always remain that way.. Managements main focus will be to grow earnings enough to maintain or grow dividends and there would need to be a disasterous fall in earnigs for the dividend to suffer and there have not been any signs of that happening..
Remember, forecasts were for $6/7 billion in free cash flow next year.. That is more than enough to finance, not pay for, growth(NBN) or to increase their dividend..
