If I remember, there was a photo released by RML last season of one of the drilling sites surrounded by a bear proof fence. I don't know whether the workers inside are also equipped with guns and rubber bullets. Prospecting geologists maybe?
About 15 years ago, in Blackcomb, BC, I accidentally got within about 40 metres of a wild adult black bear. I had nothing, not even pepper spray. Fortunately the bear headed off in another direction. I'm guessing that rubber bullets would probably just make bears angry, unless they have special bear sized bullets. Those things are surprisingly large and fast.
