Personally, I want people running the country whose first priority is to set policies that ensure:

    - social justice
    - a good education and access to opportunity for all
    - a commitment to fight climate change
    - protection for the environment

The economy is a tool for achieving these objectives, not an objective in itself. If someone says to me "we must have economic growth". I say "to what end"

Turnbull was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and went to Sydney Grammar School, Sydney University and then Oxford University. The guy is obviously very intelligent - so he was born with a huge advantage to the average Australian. Yes, he had a very successful business career and has made lots of money. But not all of us look upon the making of lots of money as a great achievement. Curing cancer, being committed to teaching in a western suburbs school etc are great achievements. I don't see why the ability to make lots of money makes him a great person to lead our country. He strikes me as arrogant with a born to rule mentality, so I won't be voting for him.

Anyway, the actual running of the country as always is done by the civil service, not the pollies. The pollies just set the policies.
