good to see a bit of debate - all grist for the mill.
the equity markets( and commodity markets ) remind me of a heavyweight title fight and everything has been thrown at the former champion( frenetic media, spooked households, huge equity issues, hopeless banks, inexperienced ineffective politicians, a hapless car industry, psyched out company managers etc etc etc); and guess what he is coming off the ropes!!
maybe there will be a few more stumbles, but capitalism and the consumer is not dead
takuan- there are billions and trillions in bank accounts - even the u.s.a. wont have to borrow near as much offshore now because the amount of money in bank accounts is ballooning
