    It was interesting to discover that the Spaniards ruined their economy (through inflation) by mining too much silver in Peru.

    So what's the goldbug perspective on this? What's to stop us just mining more of it (as we are doing)? As the gold price rises, the more we can economically mine until we flood the market with gold and debase any (theoretical) gold backed currency.
